Green rosemary

Hello dear gardeners, gardeners and gardeners! My dear, each of you in the garden has some corners of ornamental plants, decorative plantings, maybe someone has some small ponds, dry rivers are made. I know that many are now paying attention to this. And such a plant as, for example, Greenland rosemary, which recently appeared on sale with us, will be a wonderful decoration for such a cozy corner.

"Greenland" - the name itself suggests that the plant is very winter-hardy. Like almost all plants in Greenland, it is stunted. In the adult state, the shrub literally reaches 20-25 cm. It lays down as if with such a hat. Extremely beautiful. This is not a groundcover, but a shrub, but it’s like a pie, swollen up. Blossoms with small white flowers. You see on the screen behind me what a bloom. It occurs from about early June to mid-June.

Greenland Rhododendron (Rhododendron groenlandicum), or Greenland rosemary (Ledum groenlandicum)

The flowers are small, seemingly faded, but, nevertheless, the impression is literally snowy of this area where these plants will grow.

Earlier, the species Rhododendron greenland (Rhododendron groenlandicum) was attributed to the genus Bagulnik (Ledum), in Russian literature, and today the species is known as Bagulnik greenland (Ledum groenlandicum)

What does Ledum Greenland love? This is not rhododendron, but, nevertheless, it loves sour soils. Soil reaction (pH) should be around 5 or so. Take litmus strips just in case, just check this acidity. Moreover, it will not grow on very acidic soil, and on near neutral soil the same thing, he will not like it. Therefore, the soil is very important for him.

The soil should not be too rich. It may contain, say, coniferous bark, it may contain some processed coconut waste (for example, we sell sawdust, shavings, coconut fiber), it may contain peat. If you combine all this together and add some more good ordinary garden land in proportions of about one to one. This will be quite enough for this plant.

So we have just purchased this plant, and before planting there is still quite a lot of time, and the plant, as we see, has already suffered enough in this container. In the greenhouse where it was grown, roots already appeared.

The root system of the Greenland rhododendron in a seedling container

And let's see now the root system, what the plant looks like, what it looks like. I think that, most likely, before the time of planting - and this is about the month of June - we should transplant this plant into a larger container. See how well and strongly the root system has braided the pot. The root system is healthy, the roots are white. These are all suction roots. If we leave the plant in a pot for two months, then it’s almost impossible to add these roots — we’ll probably overfill them, then dry them. Moreover, the soil should be moderately moist or moist. Dry soil should never be - the plant will die.

So, I have already made a mixture of these components. First of all, we pour a drainage layer into the pot. Be sure to have large holes in the bottom so that excess water leaves. For such a small plant, four centimeter drainage is required. The pot has very large openings. And so that the drainage material would not crumble, we could put some broken pots on the bottom before, and now we usually will not find broken pots at home, we have all the plastic or decorative plants, glass dishes, so we we lay these holes, then pour drainage. Do not be afraid. Thus. Leveling, and now we pour the prepared soil. By the way, you can add perlitik to it. The soil should be loose, the soil should be air- and water-permeable, but at the same time well-retaining moisture.

We fill the container for transplanting rhododendron of the Greenland soil mixture

So, we pour a small amount, a little tamp, put our plant in this way, and proceed to the sprinkling of soil. My dears, never pay attention to how I inaccurately do this, because I am always in a hurry. This is the soil. From above, let us, for decorative purposes, for example, pour a little bit of coniferous bark, which will not allow the top layer of soil to dry out, will retain moisture very well. And, nevertheless, it will pass wonderful and air to the roots, which is absolutely necessary for the plant.

We take ordinary water. After planting, we use ordinary water, preferably melt snow or rainwater. Water the plant properly so that this soil comes into good contact with the roots. And beautiful, very decorative.

Since the plant will be kept indoors until planting, which means that the air humidity will be low, we should nevertheless from time to time, once a day, or maybe, if possible, two, spray our plant.

The second watering we produce somewhere in a week, or rather, we just use our fingers to push our mulch a little bit and touch it with our finger. Approximately on the phalanx of the finger, if the soil is dry, then we will certainly irrigate, already using stimulants of root formation and growth. This must be done in order to make it easier for the roots to penetrate the new soil, and to master it wonderfully. I wish you to purchase this plant and plant on your site.
