Among the favorite and "reliable" indoor decorative foliage plants there are many cultures with delightfully variegated leaves. But even among them you can find something special. The usual combination of white, cream and yellow in stripes and dots on green leaves is a classic version that occurs so often that it almost becomes boring. But multicolor leaves can not get bored. In multi-colored houseplants, at least three different colors are combined in the drawings and patterns on the leaves, some of which seem almost artificial patterns. Pink, red, cherry, purple, lilac or orange in addition to dark brown, ink, white, gold, silver tones and all shades of green ... Each multi-color plant looks like a small art explosion.

Color therapists among decorative leaf stars

Even the most modest and classic indoor plant not only enlivens the atmosphere in the house, but also plays the role of a real psychological buffer. Calm green, not to mention more original combinations, give rest to the eyes and the mind. Plants bring into our life communication with wildlife, relieve stress, calm, set up communication, energize. And some also purify the air and fight against germs, radiation and toxins. But if modest plants are more likely a small component of the general calming background, then cultures with bright patterns “playing” on leaves pretend to be much more active inhabitants of our houses.

The multi-color ripples of indoor crops, the leaves of which combine more than 3 different colors in color and patterns, make the “viewer” the same impression as an abstract artistic canvas. The energy of different colors - cold, neutral, warm - is mixed and supplemented, so colorful plants cause a firework of emotions and impressions.

They act on us like an accelerated course of color therapy: one look at the multicolor in the pot - and stress is gone. Charging with energy, they are far from reassuring: like painting, such plants arouse a creative impulse, inspire, inspire to action and drive away boredom and a sense of everyday life.

In addition to talents from the field of psychology and Feng Shui, such multicolor plants have another feature: it is difficult to find more catchy and distracting accents for any interior. Combinations of different colors make it possible to use them not just as color spots, but as compensators for the absence of active, bright colors in the interior as a whole.

White-veined Maranta (Maranta leuconeura)

Multi-colored cultures perform quite complex tasks:

  • mask even the most unsuccessful color schemes;
  • save from boring, standard and faceless interiors and neutral colors;
  • help divert attention from the imperfections of furniture or wall decoration;
  • replace themselves with large objects of art.

To hide such plants on the windowsill, to hide behind curtains and curtains is a big mistake. Colorful stars were created by nature itself in order to bring a little bright creative energy and fun into our homes. And although the presence of bright patterns imposes its limitations on the possibility of plants shading (most of them simply lose their varietal features in the shade), you can still find a really comfortable place near the windows. Even one such handsome person will transform the atmosphere in the living room, revitalize the interior of the kitchen or become an inexhaustible source of creative energy in the work area or corner for needlework.

There are not so many plants with really multi-colored leaves. There are many motley cultures, but there are such cultures that combine classic white-green-yellow colors with another part of the color spectrum - red, pink, orange, lilac-violet tones - is more difficult to find. We will get acquainted with the main multi-colored stars, offering to admire the game of the most unusual combinations of three or more colors.
